What an 安亲班老师 does at DuoDuo

The Educare After-School Programme (安亲成长班) serves children aged 4 to 12 after school with meals, a shower, guided homework, exam revision and a daily 1-to-1 trilingual lesson. An Educare Teacher is responsible for the learning part of that afternoon.

You check homework for understanding, not just completion, and you guide with questions rather than giving answers. When a child cannot finish, you let the parent know the same day with the reason, because DuoDuo does not promise 100% completion and does promise honesty. You also teach the daily 1-to-1 lesson in Chinese, Bahasa Malaysia or English at the child's level.

What a preschool teacher does at DuoDuo

The Holistic Preschool Programme (幼儿全方位成长课程) is for ages 4 to 6, theme-based and taught in small classes with early literacy at its centre. A Preschool Teacher runs the day's routine and the daily literacy block, using DuoDuo's staircase word-recognition system (阶梯式认字系统).

The targets are concrete: about 150 recognised words at age 4, 500 at age 5 and 1,000 at age 6, which is Primary 1 ready and above the Ministry of Education standard. Each child's progress is recorded on a personal progress chart, and word-recognition tests are done live in front of parents.

The one habit every DuoDuo teacher shares

Whether in Educare or preschool, DuoDuo teachers guide and never give the answer. A child who is told the answer has finished the worksheet; a child who is asked the right question has learned something she can use tomorrow.
