Where you can teach without an education degree

Government schools require a recognised teaching qualification, but most of Malaysia's private education sector does not. The largest number of open teaching roles at any time are in tuition centres, after-school Educare centres and private preschools, and these employers care far more about language ability, patience and trainability than about the name of your degree.

This matters because Malaysia's education demand is growing outside the school gate. Dual-income families need supervised after-school care, SJK(C) pupils need help with three languages, and school-based assessment under KSSR means parents are looking for steady progress rather than one big exam push.

What employers actually look for

Good centres hire for character and language first, then teach you the method. At DuoDuo Kidz Academy, the minimum qualification for teaching roles is SPM, STPM or a Diploma. A Diploma in Education or Early Childhood is an advantage, not a requirement.

What we assess in an interview is simpler than most applicants expect: can you speak clearly in at least one of Chinese, Bahasa Malaysia or English (ideally two), are you patient with a child who gets it wrong five times, and are you willing to follow a system instead of improvising?
