Dual-income families in Malaysia have five main after-school options: a grandparent or relative, a domestic helper, school transport to home, subject tuition, or an after-school care centre (安亲班). The best choice covers three things at once: safe pick-up from school, supervision until you get home, and real learning during those hours. Pick-up and safety questions to ask
Safety is not just about the building. It is about the handover. Before choosing a centre, ask exactly how your child gets from the school gate to the centre, who is responsible during that journey, and what happens if the school dismisses early or your child is absent.

My child already has a grandparent at home. Do they still need 安亲班?
Not necessarily for supervision. But if homework is a nightly struggle or a language is weak, a programme with daily 1-to-1 lessons may still help, and it takes pressure off the grandparent.
What if I finish work after 7pm?
