Fresh graduate teaching job: yes, no experience is fine

Most of the teachers at DuoDuo Kidz Academy did not start as experienced educators. Many joined straight after SPM, STPM, a Diploma or a degree in an unrelated field, and learned to teach with us.

That is why we say plainly: fresh graduates are welcome. Full training is provided, so the question is not what you already know but whether you are ready to learn.

What to expect in your first months

Expect to work with children aged 4 to 12, one child at a time or in small groups, in a team that supports you. Your days follow weekday hours, and you will get to know the same children and families well over time.

Expect the first weeks to feel like learning a new skill, because that is what it is. Most new teachers tell us that seeing a child they teach reach a new reading level is what makes the job click.

The character DuoDuo looks for

We hire for character first, because skills can be trained and character is harder to change. Three traits matter most.

• Patience: you stay calm when a child needs the same point explained again
• Guiding, not telling: you are comfortable asking questions so the child finds the answer, instead of giving it directly
• Reliability: you turn up on time, keep your word to parents and follow the team's way of working
• A plus: comfortable in Chinese and Bahasa Malaysia, with basic English
